Liputan6.com, Libya - Desert or Ubari Ubari Sand Sea is one of the largest sand dunes in the region of Fezzan, Libya. Unique things that exist in this place that there is a lake surrounded by lush plants and trees in the Ubari Sand Sea. It is not a mere mirage, but a reality.
Actually it is not a strange thing in the Ubari Desert. Therefore, approximately 200 thousand years ago, the region is one of the areas of wet and lush with lots of rainfall and river flows as quoted from page AmusingPlanet, Thursday (16/04/2015).
However, it is clearly not visible in the present. Climate change causes the area to dry out gradually between three thousand to five thousand years ago. Water in the lakes was evaporated. Traces of a large lake, now only sand with towering sand dunes.
Water lake in the Ubari Sand Sea is very salty. This happens because the evaporation process is continuous and there are no streams that pass through the lake. In fact, some of the lake is nearly five times saltier than sea water and there is blood red color of the algae that can survive in environments containing high salt.
Two lakes are well known in the Ubari Sand Sea is Gaberoun Lake and Lake Umm al-Maa canister vacuum (the Mother of Water). Near the lake, there is a camp with an open terrace, lodges, and places to buy souvenirs. Interested traveled to the unique lake? (Auf / Ars)
