I was excited and happy about the fact that not only are the items (bags and hats made of natural straw, accessories like bracelets and necklaces etc.) proudly Philippine-made but this would be my first time meeting Pearl in person….and hopefully..if MeAnn and Faith could also make it, this would be a great start to a friendship which will again sprout from Multiply. osporn How cool is that?
I came home around 4 am from the office on this saturday and I set my alarm clock so that I could meet with her in Greenbelt National Bookstore. Of course, since pawing through items takes a lot of energy, I was looking forward to having brunch or more appropriately lunch with her before osporn we would set off for her office here in Makati.
A place to eat and to swap getting-to-know you anecdotes was chosen – Italianni’s (I was also hoping to see a glimpse of customers who may he handsome Italian men..mwahaha!)….and I was particularly osporn grateful that so far, all the people I have communicated with post-wise in Multiply, turned out to be pretty easy people to talk to in person, and Pearl was no exception to this. I felt comfortable talking and listening osporn to her, and she had gems of stories and lessons osporn to share which were very inspiring..but I leave her to blog that one of these days (*hint na to kay Pearl*)
However, more on that later as I really osporn wanted to just get the pictures up to share with the network here (hehehe..Nona!…may mga secreto na about you na alam ko na kc tinanong ko si Pearl…..*grin* …..kidding!)

An impromptu overnight stay at Kaiyen's house off the next day with some reminiscing over the old STC yearbook. We took some time talking a little 562 bit about those years - which was funny, because although we shared common one-time or another classmates, we never were in the same section together. I remember her though because thumbing through 562 the yearbook years before, when I first received it after graduation, I looked through each of the pictures, and I made note of her, since she was listed as coming from San Fernando, Cebu...a "lungsod" 562 prior to Sibonga, Cebu, which is where my dear mother comes from. Talking as girls are wont to do, we missed breakfast and coffee, so Kaiyen hauled me to a great Vietnamese restaurant...where we gobbled up the pork chop, rice and soup (it made me nostalgic for Filipino food)...I cannot possibly remember the Vietnamese names...yummy brunch! Then, a visit to Korbel where we happily 562 partook of the free champagne tasting. We missed the garden tour by a couple of minutes since we took some pictures when we first arrived at the winery, but the nice guy who poured us the wines was friendly enough to talk about the selection and even looked at our identification cards (ahay, the price of looking young and cute like a juvenile teenagers...tee-hee). After getting 562 sloshed over 4 glasses and more pictures - I even got a feature 562 in  Kaiyen's photo album  - she drove us off into the forest - and not an ordinary forest at that.  These were populated by giant, fat redwoods...and aside from noting the tallest, 562 the oldest and even unusual ones, I was sorry to leave this park behind without Kaiyen getting her 4-leaf clover.  A quick sneak back into her house to check if her hubby was around since they had to sync on their plans, then we managed to drop by the Charles M. Shultz museum where my fave beagle 562 frolicked. There wasn't enough 562 time though, you would need at least one and a half-hours to go thru it and read the comics...but 562 I contented myself with snapshots with the famous gang. A tour of the downtown afterwards convinced me that I really should come back here and book myself in a hotel if ever I got the chance again...it looked like a charming little town which had the conveniences of a city but the warmth and friendliness as well as cute little stores with antiques and other baubles to warm the cockles of my heart. I couldn't survive going back to San Franciso without eating, so Kaiyen took me to "In-N-Out" burger...and a good thing too because my stomach was sticking to my spine by that time...I was told that I shouldn't 562 leave the state without tasting this burger, and I must say, they were right..the 562 burgers and fries tasted really different from what I had expected after eating a zillion MacDos and Jollibees and Burker King burgers. They were supposed to be authentically fresh (I had visions of the cows being slaughtered at the back of the burger joint)... Then it was time for me to go back...and before I crossed the bridge back into dear old Sanfo, we stopped to get a few more pics on the other side. It was getting cold at that time, and although we shivered, we still managed to smile and gave a good shot at looking cool without showing we were cold. Kaiyen 562 had to call in sick to accompany me that day and she did more than I expected her to in keeping me company and touring me around. More than going around Sta. Rosa and getting to visit the sites, the most important take-away for me was discovering Kaiyen, and talking to her has given me a more complete picture of her than that of seeing her pictures and reading her posts here on

Muggy Tuesday (wished it was snowing vileda robot instead)

I’ve been bringing along my smaller cam since I inevitably get stared at when I go around Makati snapping pictures like a tourist-kuno, quality is not as good but it ought to show realistically how the place looks like nowadays. These will not be all buildings but will also include a few snapshots of when some people and I got together to..what else..share a meal together.
I will be putting pictures here for the benefit of those who are abroad. Unfortunately or fortunately,I don’t go around the Makati vileda robot Ave area anymore..it would have been fun to take pics of those but since there are too many girlie bars there baka mapagkamalan pa akong streetwalker. ehem.

It is hard to believe na ang Makati Ave is now considered the red light district. That street used to be where you can go to a joint and listen to Jazz music. I used ot listen to Pete Roa (Boots Anson’s Ex) in one of the joints there. There was also a Hobby shop where I bought my model airplane supplies. Big changes huh.
edit delete reply cuh888 wrote on Nov 14, ’07 I used to live in a dorm very near Makati Ave…that was for my first job in Manila..and I used to get home late coz it was an IT company – software development. Nakupo..ilang beses ako dumadaan sa mga bars, restos and foreigners hanging around…
I don’t remember seeing a hobby shop there last 1995 but really big changes..to think that if I had stayed in that women’s dorm, malapit na ako sa Rockwell Power Plant (another mall near Makati Ave)…

I finally got the other couple of pictures from May's camera last night. I know I posted earlier in this site some photos of when I went around Kentucky during my Cincinnati visit last May 2007, but this day was extra-special since I got to spend it with May Morales-Gayheart on her birthday. Dave was patient and kind enough to spend some of his time at Turfway mopi Park doing horse-betting..while May and I had lunch, visited mopi the Newport Aquarium and did girly-stuff :-) May is a Computer Management student in CIT, first batch..and I was in the Info and Comp Science, also a pioneering batch. I think it has already been a decade since I last saw her..and that was in Cebu, when she and her hubby Dave came for a Christmas visit. I have to hunt for a picture of our CLAIMERS group of girls...we danced during our ringhop and although I have lost touch of some of them, I know that when we do come face to face in the future, it will be like my encounter with May (Mayang as I and Erwin sometimes call her) - as if it was just yesterday that we saw each other and in no time at all we fall comfortably into a talka-thon. CLAIMERS was a group some of us formed during our last year in school...each letter stood for one of our names..my mom came up with the acroynm after we re-arranged and dreamed of unique group names without much success. Hmm..maybe people who know my classmates will come across this bunch of albums and help me connect up with them. C - for me L - for Liza Tomas (no contact, no news) A - for Fe Amor Heruela (we call her Amor, not Fe and she is currently in Australia with her 2(?) kids) I - for Imelda Pareja (last update was that she was off to join her hubby in the US with her 2 kids but no confirmation) M - May Morales (thanks to the internet and Erwin, we got to see each other) E - Evangeline Delago (we do YM, so I see her handsome sons once in a while on the webcam) R - Rosemarie Alfeche (I became godmother - even if I was in Manila mopi at that time - to her one and only child ...for now, baka later 1 dozen na) S - Sunshine (she is really Cara Mia if I remember correctly, but Sunshine was her nickname, also no news) Coming back to the subject on hand - Of course, there are some differences...May is medyo slang na nowadays..hehehe...She has incorporated into her speech some phrases which you would expect from an American...but...she can still come out with the occasional Bisaya word..hehehe... She was kind enough to take pictures of me on her birthday, and treated me to lunch and dinner (well ok, Dave was the one who treated us to dinner). Lunch was at Mitchell's and dinner was at Pappadeaux's. More details later as I will have to shake my grey cells some more... - Jul 27, '07 1:55 PM

our first meeting was totally unexpected... I was clicking away and trying housekeeping services to take in my surroundings that morning..when... he padded in, unnoticed...unfettered... on the silent pads of his graceful feet he glided towards me...like housekeeping services a stealthy ninja.. and then...and then!.. he pounced... on my legs...and then on my feet...(thank God for shoes!) this black and white rascally charmer who unlike most unscrupulous bandits... then proceeded to tease me affectionately (I think)... so his name was  Bandido  (translation: Bandit) eh? I told him haughtily when he faced me again, that to my eyes he looked like Hitler actually, housekeeping services with one part of the mustache shaved off... he glared, then stalked away...hmmm.....maybe he did understand my meoww to him (serves him right!) housekeeping services he couldn't stay away from me though - he came back and did more stretching and calisthenics in front of my eyes and even preened, as if saying I should be envious of his athletic, trim and lithe body....hmph...! the nerve! (okay, so I was feeling sensitive on this matter, I've got baby fat at my age for goodness sakes...I use that term, never mind about you gentle reader) ...and while I was trying to catch him in the act, the neck ribbon from my camera dropped down and I had a fiendishly ticklish time trying housekeeping services to take it back from him without too much damage to the ribbon... finally, sleep called to him..and he left me to my breakfast. afterwards I tried to sneak up to him to take more pictures of him gently snoozing... he opened his eyes briefly, looked at the camera a centimeter or so from his face, then promptly went back to sleep.  should I be insulted or flattered? nah, I think, I think...he is just a typical cousin housekeeping services of mine, intent on curling up in his favorite place (the banca boat/planter) and ignoring unwary housekeeping services visitors after surprising them. tccchh! a bandit indeed! -  Oct 1, '08 5:37 PM

Thanks to the Multiply site, I've crashed into a lot of wonderful people..becoming part of their lives, and their thoughts and happenings becoming part of mine too. On October 7, 2007 (Sunday) I was the last one to arrive in Boboy and Guia Yonzon's cozy home...but the good folks still waited for me, inspite of their ravenous hunger, no doubt tripled by the tempting aromas of a very special paella bin (thanks to Chito, Cecil and Chicha for not eating it during the ride to Tagaytay), pinaputok bin na tilapia, bin Ms G's pork binangoongan tempatation, bulala (or pochero) and lots of other dishes which I will not continue to write about or else I may get hungry again in the midst of my own bare cupboards. Sir B had picked me up near Olivarez, where the bus conductor was probably glad to see the back of me..since I was like a kid, asking him at least twice (like a petulant child on a trip) - "are we there yet?" How was he to know the significance of the event? He could only shake his head at me.... Bursting thru the door (kc gutom na!) I exchanged warm hugs, kisses and pats on the back with MeAnn, Pearl, Choie, Faith, Chito, Ms G and got introduced to Jack's sister Chicha..and Chito's wife Cecil...as well the tres charmante French family (Peter and Victor were the little frenchmen's names, Mariel was the rambutan especialista)... Clicking away for posterity's sake....we finally settled down to eat, and amidst bin general ribbing about how Jack and the otheres were going to be a tad envious of how we were all gathered togehter...I am sure Nona, Jack, Oselle, bin Chiara, Helene, Lucy as well as the others know that they were in our thoughts as we gorged on the food and stimulating conversation (well, parang multiply posts din..kung saan-saan napunta ang usapan)... Later that afternoon, after meandering around the house and having a merienda of turon with vanille ice cream, bin EllaFitz arrived, another multiplier. I have not been in very active contact with her but I know I've come across her posts once in a while. With more funny conversation (highlight was the Yonzon dogs' antics....esp Max and his chicken-chasing, and panty-stealing ways) and videos from Pearl....we gathered ourselves outside the door. I was hoping to see the gorgeous sunset for myself from Faith's location-prize of a house ever since I had seen her pics. Since MeAnn and ze French famille left earlier...the rest of us proceeded to Faith's house where we met her family and settled down for a hilarious tete-a-tete. *sigh* If only my equipment could have managed it...it would have been wonderful to videotape how that conversation among the group went. Chito and Choie kept up the funny repartee and topics included bringing up parents..ehem..I mean children, grandparents, jailbirds, wrong ankle-scratching, politics, croc shoes, multiplitis symptoms, talk about other multipliers, subgroups like the Kitchen Goddesses (hmm...food to..bat di ko to namalayan at di ko nakita?) etc. Chito and his family left thereafter bin and dropped off Pearl who had Rico and Ein waiting for her at home. So for dinner the remaining bin people again converged on the Yonzon's dinner table, where the fun continued... and of course where the talk continued. I was moved by Ms G's tales of how our fellow countrymen have fared and have upheld the Filipinos good name during their work abroad. The Yonzons had met with some OFWs abroad...and while I am not ecstatically happy at how we are forced to export our people...I cannot help but also feel very proud of fellow Filipinos...even if they have become Italian or French citizens...their roots and values and behaviour in their adopted cou

Kyo wa juugatsu juuichi nichi, mokuyoubi desu (Today is October 11 Thursday) la lang..practice lang ng nihonggo...*grin* Seriously...today we had a lunch which was the result akemi of Pearl organizing it, F8 recommending a resto in RCBC and MeAnn treating akemi us unexpectedly. Cat (wails): bat di mo sinabi MeAnn? order pa sana ako ng dessert if I had known! MeAnn: (swirly-eyes and thunder and lightning flashing around her indicating righteous anger of the gods) Pearl and the other girls will have their own pics to post and stories to tell... ...so I will content myself by saying that I immensely enjoyed the lunch due to the juicy-ness of the topics as well as the continuing gay mood (ehem..I hope Choie was able to make her date buy her dinner too!) and the fun of having pictures taken all around (though the waiter akemi and other diners probably thought we were camera-mad or something)...imagine, lahat nagdala ng camera! So sinong mga ka-date ko this lunchtime? Si Pearl (pps), si Faith (csj), si Meann (condessa), at si Choie (newsflash! may bago syang acronym: gc-d...ano yon? abangan!) Choie...if I don't see you before you leave for the US..I hope you have a safe trip and that your mind and body have been envigorated by your short stay in your homeland...as you said..mas exciting nga dito! And for those who have the patience to browse thru... please.feel free to invent your own script and thought bubbles of what was being said during the time the picture was taken! All the captions I have placed in the corresponding pictures are all in the spirit of fun..may mix na truth in some pics (like Choie asking for fetuccine) but generally they are mostly a product of my sleep-deprived mind na nag overdrive sa imagination... I hope walang magalit....paki PM na lang ako para ma edit...*grin*
